” Let’s go catching not fishing”
Hi, I am Capt. . Charles Wilson owner and operator of Capt. Charles charters. I was born in Apalachicola the forth generation of my family who came here around 1860.  I fish the bay and area’s around St. George Island Fl .some of my family came  from, Columbia Tn. in Maury co.  I started charter fishing in 1969 after I came home from Vietnam. I  fish the river and the bay as well as the waters off shore St. George Island, and Port St. Joe all my life .Being a 4th generation native of Apalachicola, Fl.  I have worked as a oyster man, crabber, shrimper, and fishing guide. I love my job meeting new people and seeing my regular clients every year some for 30 years and still coming each year. I have seen many changes over the years . I was talking with  producer/director  Rhett Turner son of Ted Turner when he hired me to guide him to film the documentary “ Water Wars” about the river & bay and I was telling him about the river when I was young and how it is the life blood of the Bay. If you want to go fishing here  I am one of the most experienced guides in this area . Capt Charles Charters placed 2nd place in the “Masters Division” in the OAR big bend saltwater  Classic tournament in 2005 and again in 2007. Capt. Charles was featured in Field and Stream magazine in 2003 and several other sports magazine’s since. I fish on a 22 foot Mako. I am licensed & insured and have all the required safety equipment. I furnish all the equipment you will need for your charter. I have 40 years of experience and hold a 100 Ton  US Coast Guard Masters license. We fish for trout, red fish, ” My Favorite – Tripple Tail “, flounder, drum, sheepshead, tarpon, red snapper, grouper, Cobia & several and other species of fish.we are located in Northwest Florida, between Tallahassee and Panama City, and about 7 miles across the bay from St. George Island. Come on down and go fishing, shelling on Little St. George Island, or St Viencent Island or on a Eco trip and enjoy a good boat ride on the wide open Apalachicola Bay or up the River. If you like to fish, take your catch home with you, or have it cooked in one of our local restaurants. We have many recommendations.

I take pride in my charters business and try to treat my customers with respect I have 4 grand children and love fishing with kids to see their faces light up when they catch a fish.  I will be happy to take you and your family or friends fishing. come on down to Apalachicola, St. George Island, Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe Fl Carrabelle and Alligator point we fish folks who stay in all these places I would love the opportunity to earn your business. Artificial or Man made ice invented in Apalachicola, Fl in 1844

Dr. Gorrie invented the ice-making machine and is considered the father of air conditioning and refrigeration. Gorrie’s invention began with an attempt to cure Yellow Fever during an outbreak in Apalachicola in 1841. Convinced that cold was a healer, he advocated the use of ice to cool sickrooms and reduce fever. In 1844, American physician, John Gorrie, built a refrigerator to make ice to cool the air for his yellow fever patients. Some historians think that Doctor Gorrie may have also invented the first ice cube tray since it was documented that his patients were also receiving iced drinks.
